Beginner and Safety Tips
- Just a friendly reminder, we kindly ask you arrive 15 minutes prior to class to give yourself time to check in, meet your teacher, secure personal effects, use the restroom, fill water bottle and settle into the studio. Please note, for the safety of you and others, and respect for the teacher and students, our studio door is locked during class. Late entry is not permitted.
- HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE! Please drink plenty of water before, and after class. Yoga105° offers a convenient touchless water dispenser to refill your water bottle prior to and after class. Or you can grab your own in our Merch Shop! We also offer electrolyte replacement additives as well!
- It is best to minimize eating before class to light meals about 2-3 hours beforehand. If you are attending a morning class, and feel you need to eat, having a light breakfast like a banana or applesauce might help you. Heavy foods may not mix well with your practice.
- WHAT TO WEAR? We encourage the use of activewear that is lightweight, breathes easy and is designed to wick sweat from your skin. You will sweat. A LOT. Bring a face towels to wipe your brow, to aid in cooling down, and or to wipe your mat.
- Bring your own yoga mat, or studio mats are available to rent. We also have mats available for purchase in our Merch Shop!
- We have plush towels designed to fit your mat and are available for rent or purchase, or you’re welcome to bring your own towel.
- LISTEN TO YOUR BODY! Whether you are new to hot yoga or an advanced practitioner, your practice is uniquely your own, and our interest is in supporting a safe and judgement free environment to cultivate health and wellness. Even if you’ve taken many hot yoga classes previously, your body may need time to acclimate to this combination of postures (asanas) in the heat. This is especially important if it’s your first time and can take a few classes to adjust.
- EVERYONE’S ABILITY IS DIFFERENT IN EACH POSTURE. You are guaranteed to reap the benefits of yoga by doing the best you can, responding to the instructions, concentrating on alignment and working at YOUR level. If you need to take a break, feel free to rest on your mat or lie down on your mat anytime with your eyes OPEN. You do NOT need permission to rest, and we encourage honoring what is best for your body. We do kindly ask that once in the studio, students remain for the duration until the instructor has ended class after the final resting pose (savasana) and closed with Namaste. This will ensure embodiment of a full experience and the most benefit to your practice.
- HELPFUL TIP ON DEHYDRATION. Because you sweat so much in Bikram, your body loses essential water, which can leave you feeling nauseated. If this happens, take a rest, drink small sips of water in between postures and continue breathing deeply through the nose. This engages the parasympathetic system and has a natural calming effect on the body. We highly recommend adding an electrolyte to your water bottle
- WE ARE HERE FOR YOU! Our certified instructors are available to answer any questions you may have or offer guidance. Feel free to speak to your instructor either before or after class to address your concerns.
